Description
Database Presentation
AraByzLiS - Arabs in Byzantine Literary Sources (7th-12th c.) is built on DeltiaDB, a database management system that provides users the graphic interface to insert, retrieve, update and revise data in a systematic and effective way. DeltiaDB collects all the information sourced from legacy text entries. It automatically splits inserted data into different types of entities and stores them using normalized tables.
About the project
The Research Project “Arabs in Byzantine Literary Sources (7th-12th c.)” started in 2015 at the Institute of Historical Research, National Hellenic Research Foundation, Athens, Greece (IHR/NHRF), following an exchange of ideas with the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah). The aim of the Project is to present both the research and wider community with an online database gathering Byzantine Literary sources that refer to the Arabs from the 7th to the 12th century CE. During the first stage of the project IHR/NHRF has carried out the research and creation of a source index and part of the cataloguing and processing of the sources’ references. IHR/NHRF has also carried out the initial planning and implementation of a database of the primary material from the Byzantine sources, together with the relevant information and comments.
